“30-50 feral hogs” went from terrorizing one man’s backyard to trending on Twitter this week. Following mass shooting tragedies in both Texas and Ohio, the rational outcry was to tighten gun control laws and ban assault rifles. But one Arkansas man tweeted:
Legit question for rural Americans – How do I kill the 30-50 feral hogs that run into my yark within 3-5 mins whle my small kids play?
… and a new internet meme was born!
Not only is “Hog” a funny word, but the number is amusingly high, and the range so vague, (is it 30 or 50?), that hilarity naturally ensued! Here are some of my favourite responses:
Footnote: Feral hogs have killed just four people in U.S. history, whereas mass shootings have killed 253 in the US this year alone.
